PURPOSE:To obtain an absorbent showing a superior power of absorbing ethylene even at low concn. by bringing activated carbon into contact with one or more metals out of copper, iron, Co and Ni acidified with nitric acid, or their cpds., followed by heating under an inert atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:An aq. soln. of the above metals acidified with nitric acid or their salts, e.g. copper nitrate or iron intrate allowed to be absorbed into activated carbon such as pitch type spherical carbon and dried. The amt. of the metals contained is regulated to 0.01-20, pref. 0.1-10wt% to the activated carbon. The dired metals or metal salts-absorbed carbon is then heated to 150-900, pref. 200- 700 deg.C under an inert atmosphere such as N2 to obtain an ethylene absorbent. |
