Gas burner support and mixt. supply casing - is ceramic box to which burner plate is bonded as lid

The surface combustion gas burner support and mixture supply casing is a rectangular box (1) of ceramic material, pref. cast, with the burner plate - also ceramic - as a lid. The two are permanently joined by a layer of heat resisting cement, fed into a gap created by bevelling the top edge of the box, and/or wrapping an adhesive soaked strip of heat resisting material round the join. Combustible mixture enters at one end; flows through an internal duct (5). Facing its open end is a deflecting plate (6) which may be integral or inserted.
