Provided is an elastomer composition having a self-sealing property useable for a puncture-resistant layer in an inflatable article, the composition comprising a blend of at least two solid elastomers, namely a polybutadiene elastomer or butadiene copolymer, referred to as "elastomer A", and a natural rubber elastomer or synthetic polyisoprene, referred to as "elastomer B", the elastomer A:elastomer B weight ratio being in the range of 10:90 to 90:10; a thermoplastic hydrocarbon resin which is solid at 23°C and is present at a content within a range of from 30 to 90 phr per 100 phr of a solid elastomer; a filler which is present at a content within a range of from more than 30 to less than 120 phr per 100 phr of a solid elastomer, including a reinforcing filler which is present at a content within a range of from 0 to less than 30 phr per 100 phr of a solid elastomer. Provided is inflatable article, such as a tyre, performed with a puncture-resistant layer comprising a composition of the invention; the puncture-resistant layer is advantageously associated with an airtight layer, for example based on butyl rubber or TPS elastomer, in order to form an airtight, puncture-resistant laminate in the inflatable article. |
