PURPOSE:To simply reinforce a self-tapping portion of a plastic molded product, by a method wherein a metal sheet is previously insert-molded into a self-tapping portion of a plastic molded product. CONSTITUTION:A lower hole having a diameter dp inserted into a tapping screw is previously made in a boss 1, having an outer diameter D, of a plastic molded product 5, and a metal sheet 4, wherein a hole having a diameter equal to the diameter dp of the lower hole is bored, is inserted into the lower hole. A proper diameter dp of the lower hole may be 0.7-0.9 fold as large as an outer diameter d of the tapping screw, and it is desirable that the thickness t of the metal sheet is about 0.5-1.0 fold as thick as a pitch tp of the tapping screw. Furthermore, it is advisable that the metal sheet 4 has a side whose length A is 0.5-0.6 fold as long as the outer diameter D of the boss. |
