The present invention relates to a cover (4) for an identification document (2) such as a passport, an identification document (2) comprising said cover (4), and corresponding methods for the production thereof, wherein the identification document (2) consists of a cover (4) and an inner part. The cover (4) is permanently connected to the inner part. The inner part consists of a plurality of pages (6) connected to one another. A material recess (12), such as a groove, acting as a bending edge, is created on an inner side of the cover (4) connected to the inner part of the identification document. The material recess (12) allows the identification document (2) to be closed after the first opening thereof in such a way that the cover (4) is always parallel to the pages of the inner part. |
