An appts. to transfer elongated articles from one station to another station includes a transfer wheel which revolves in steps around a horizontal axis. The bushes(22) which accept the articles are arranged in groups of two on the periphery, parallel to the axis. They are reatained by herical springs(27) or elastomer bushes to retain some axial and radial mobility. The functional reliability in mechanical transfer of the fiber pressing from one station to the next is not affected by a very high production rate.
