A device for slow combustion of volatile combustible liquids comprises a body 10 of glass or mineral fibres, in which the preferably parallel fibres 11 lie so tight that they form a large number of capillary channels 12, which may be filled with the combustible liquid and which extend through the body between two opposing surfaces 10a, 10b of same, opening into said surfaces. At least one of said surfaces is intended for forming a combustion surface into which the combustible liquid is drawn up through capillary action to be evaporated and combusted at the surface. The device is mainly intended for being utilised in preparation of food in connection with outdoor life, but may also be used as a heat source in tents and for emergency signalling. <IMAGE> |
