PURPOSE:To uniformly raise the temperature of a styrene resin to foam and obtain a pattern for casting easily by using the press forming of a metal plate as a model, filling the resin directly onto the model and heating the same. CONSTITUTION:A press forming of a metal plate as a model 10 is set in a metal mold 1 and is clamped from above and below. Steam of a relatively low temperature is admitted into the metal mold through a lead-in port 9 to preheat the entire part. Next, the top surface is once opened, and the beads 13 of a prefoamed styrene resin are directly filled into the spacing on the model 10 of a lower mold 3. Thence, the top surface is closed and the metal mold 1 is clamped, after which steam of a high temperature is admitted therein through the lead-in port 9. Then, the beads 13 expand on the model 10, thereby yielding a pattern 14. An additional margin 15 is added to this in consideration for the margins for contraction and machining and the pattern is fixed onto the pedestal 16 of foamed styrene, whereby a male pattern 14 is obtained. A female pattern 14 may be obtained as well in the similar manner. |
