<p>A pair of scissors which are suitable for use by schoolchildren are moulded entirely from a plastics material so that a conical cavity may be formed in one of the bows which opens towards the rear of the scissors and is provided with an adjacent seat area upon which a pencil sharpener blade may be fixed, thus forming an integral pencil sharpener. The blades of the scissors comprise a pair of opposed jaws which are moulded in the same moulding as the shanks and bows of the scissors and which are each provided with a recess into which a cutting blade is fitted. The cutting blade is formed separately by stamping from a plastics material at 90 DEG to give the cutting edge. The jaws are so formed that the cutting blades are concealed, when the jaws are closed, to the extent that only a thin strip of the reverse edge to the cutting edge is exposed. The cutting blade may have a curved surface whose radius of curvature corresponds to the bevelled surface of conventional scissors. <IMAGE></p> |
