HARDENING METHOD FOR GELATINNCONTAINING PHOTOGRAPHIC LAYER

PURPOSE:To harden a photographic gelatin emulsion layer with a disulfonyl deriv. without exerting unfavorable influence such as post hardening and fog. CONSTITUTION:A compound represented by general formula I brought into contact with gelatin for a photographic material. The compound is synthesized by reacting a pyridone-N-substitution product or a quinolone-N-substitution product and disulfonyl chloride or by reacting pyridone or quinolone and disulfonyl chloride and quaternizing the reaction product. The amount of the compound used is 0.1- 10wt% to the dry amount of gelatin.
