<p>Improved method for 3beta-hydroxy-DELTA5(10) steroids (I): S = a steroid residue, opt. subst. by OH or an ester residue at 1, 11, 14, 16, 17, 20 and/or 21, by l. alkyl at 1,2,4,6,7,15,16,17 and/or 18, by cyclomethylene at 1,2-, 6,7-; 15,16-, and/or 16,17- or by protected keto gps. Intermediates for 10beta-Me cpds. 17beta-hydroxy-18-methyl-5(10)-estrene-3-one(1 g.) in T.H.F. (60 ml.) was hydrogenated 10 mins. at 400 atm. over Raney Ni (0.3 g.), filtered, crystd. and then recryst. from Pr2iO, giving I (0.73 g.) m.p. 157.8.</p> |
