The appts. fixes a U-shaped end stop(3) with a pair of pinching or crimping arms on to part of the lengthwise edge of a sliding clasp closure support ribbon. The ribbon is advanced along its length, and the end stops are brought to the ribbon in a direction perpendicular to the displacement path of the ribbon. The end stop is automatically turned around one of its arms to lie alongside the ribbon, so that the arms may be cirmped or pinched around the lengthwise edge of the ribbon. The appts. is of simple construction, and fixed the end stops in a simple operation.
