A steering lock for motor vehicles comprises a locking bolt 7 which is axially displaceable in a direction substantially parallel to the spindle 3, to lock the steering column spindle 3 against rotation, by engagement of the locking bolt 7 with a locking recess 8 in the hub of the steering wheel 1. In order to prevent the steering wheel 1, when locked against rotation by the locking bolt 7, from being capable of being withdrawn from the spindle 3 after release of the connection between the steering wheel 1 and the spindle 3, there is provided a locking slide 9 which is movable, by means of and perpendicular to the locking bolt 7, on displacement of the bolt 7 into its locked position, into engagement with an annular groove in the hub of the steering wheel. Movement of slide 9 is produced by the camming action of the offset portion 7''' of the bolt. <IMAGE>
