PURPOSE:To provide an anti-dazzling liquid crystal mirror having excellent durability without using any polarization plate and quarter-wave plate by using a mixed type cholesteric liquid crystal prepd. by dissolving a small amt. of a cholesteric liquid crystal in a nematic liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal element 4 on the front surface of a glass plate 3 is produced by filling a liquid crystal 6 into the space between the plate 3 and a glass plate 5 and sealing the same with a seal 7. An orientation film 10 is provided on the specular surface 2 of the plate 3, and a transparent electrode 8 and an orientation film 9 are provided on the inside surface of the plate 5. The liquid crystal 6 is a mixed type cholesteric liquid crystal produced by dissolving several % (about 1-5%) a cholesteric liquid crystal in a nematic liquid crystal, for which, for example, a liquid crystal prepd. by dissolving 3% cholesterol oil carbonate in a GH type nematic liquid crystal is used. The other examples of the cholesteric liquid crystal are cholesteryl erucate, cholesterol oleate, and several others. |
