A pump arrangement (10) is described, which has a rotor (18) for pumping a fluid from an inlet to an outlet, the rotor being driven by a motor (12), and which has sealing rings (28, 30) with a pump seal and a motor seal and a sealing chamber (32) located between these, and also an ejector (34) for the purpose of inducing a fluid stream from the sealing chamber in such a way that the fluid does not leak via the surfaces of the sealing rings of the motor seal and into the motor casing where it would damage the motor. The ejector has a nozzle (36), which is charged with pumped fluid, and a low-pressure chamber (38) which is connected to the sealing chamber. By preventing the leakage of fluid from the sealing chamber via the surfaces of the motor seal into the motor casing, the ejector maintains the sealing chamber at or near the vapour pressure of the pumped fluid. <IMAGE>
