PURPOSE:To sharpen display and to extend a life of a soln. diffusion type electrochromic display device by forming a light diffusing porous layer made of an electrically insulating of semiconductive white powder pressure-molded on an electrode substrate. CONSTITUTION:A transparent display electrode 3 made of tin oxide or the like is formed on its substrate 1, and an insulating film 5 made of a coating material, a resin, or the like is formed on the region except the pattern to be displayed. An insulating or semiconductive white powder, such as TiO2 or alumina, is placed in a protuberant form on the substrate 1, softly pressed and flatly molded to form a light diffusion white porous layer 6 made of said white powder. A counter electrode substrate 2 provided with a counter electrode 4 made of indium tin oxide or the like is overlaid on the layer 6, the circumference is sealed with an adhesive, and electrochromic soln. 7 is injected into the cell thus formed to obtain an intended electrochromic display device. |
