PURPOSE:To ensure the judgment of the soundness of a sealing member, by forming a tightly closed space at the outside of junction surfaces and mechanically detecting the leakage into the tightly closed space. CONSTITUTION:An apparatus detects the leakage of a junction part, which is formed from a pump casing 1 of a pump and a flange part 7 of a casing cover 4. A compressing member 13 forms a tightly closed space 12, which surrounds a part between junction surfaces 1a and 7a on the outside of a canopy seal. A leakage detector 14 detects the leakage from the junctions surfaces to the inside of the tightly closed space 12. Said apparatus is constituted of the compressing member 13 and the leakage detector 14. The compressing member 13 is composed of a main body 16 of an annular member and O rings 17 and 18 forming the tightly closed space 12. In the compressing member 13, a communicating pipe 29, whose one end is opened in the tightly closed space 12 through the main body 16 of the member, is provided. The other end of the comminicating pipe 19 is connected to a pressure gage as the leakage detector 14. When there is no deterioration in a gasket 10, which is a sealing member, it is judged that there is no leakage. Therefore there is no pressure fluctuation. When the deterioration occurs, cooling agent leaks into the tightly closed space 12, and the pressure in the tightly closed space 12 is increased. |
