PURPOSE:To increase the magnetooptic effect of a recording medium even if a light transmittable magnetic film of >=1,000Angstrom film thickness is used by providing a light transmittable magnetic substance layer and a reflecting layer on a light transmittable support via a light transmittable high-refractive index dielectric layer of a specific film thickness. CONSTITUTION:The light trasmittable high-refractive index dielectric layer 2, a light transmittable magnetic layer 3 and a reflecting layer 4 are provided sequentially on the light transmittable support 1. The film thickness (d) of a dielectric layer 2 is set to lambda/2n, n=n1/n2, where lambda is a wavelength of the operating laser light and n1, n2 are absolute refractive indexes of the dielectric layer 2 and the support 1 respectively. Then only the reflected light thetak'' from the reflecting layer 4 of the laser light is extracted and the reflected light beams thetak<o>, thetak' from the boundary of the dielectric layer 2 disappear by interference. Even if the magnetic film 3 having >=1,000Angstrom of film thickness is used, the magnetooptic effect of the recording medium is increased. |
