PURPOSE:To enable a spacing action without underlining to be performed without clearing an underlining mode and simplify tab-setting work or the like, by providing a key for momentarily canceling an underlining mode being set. CONSTITUTION:For example, in an auto-underlining mode, when a space bar 20 is intermittently operated while depressing a clearing key (code key) 21 in order to set a margin position after operating a right margin setting key 16, a CPU31 momentarily cancels the auto-underlining mode on the basis of the ON condition of the clearing key 21. Then an ordinary spacing action based on the space bar 2 is performed without printing any underline on a thermal recording paper 6. Accordingly, when setting margins, even in the auto-underlining mode, the right margin can be speedily set without printing any underline on the paper 6, by depressing the space bar 20 under the condition wherein the clearing key 21 is depressed. |
