The application relates to a filter press unit having an endless filter belt continuously passing through. In order to be able to use higher pressing forces than was possible hitherto for such continuous units, according to the invention the filter belt, in the area of action of a plate press, is conducted between the press plates in longitudinally enclosing endless roller chains with the aid of synchronously co-running flexible pressing belts. By this novel configuration of a filter press unit, the invention combines the advantages of the plate press with those of conventional drum units.
