PURPOSE:To provide a water-soluble cutting and grinding oil containing dicyclohexylamine salt of sulfonic acid, which is resistant to biodeterioration and putrefaction and has a long service life. CONSTITUTION:Sulfonic acid having an average M.W. of 200-600 and a sulfonic acid group content of 40wt% (e.g. petroleum sulfonic acid obtained as byproduct of refining of lubricating oil with sulfuric anhydride) is extracted with methanol. Dicyclohexylamine in a neutralization equivalent amount is added dropwise to the methanol solution adjusted to a temperature below 50 deg.C and methanol is distilled out to obtain a dicyclohexylamine salt of sulfonic acid. The cutting and grinding oil is obtained by mixing 0.05-3.0wt% the salt into a coolant prepared by adding mineral oil, fatty oil, extreme pressure additive, surfactant, defoamer, metal corrosion inhibitor, antioxidant, etc., in proper amts. required for intended uses and diluting the mixt. with water by 10-100 times. |
