PURPOSE:To uniformly use the entire length of a ribbon and avoid wasting the ribbon, by a construction wherein a ribbon is contained in the form of a Moebius loop so that a part thereof is drawn out to the exterior, the ribbon is divided into an odd number (at least 3) of parallel zones, the central zone is assigned to a color which is less frequently used, and symmetrical zones on both sides are assigned to the same color which is more frequently used. CONSTITUTION:When a cassette casing 1 is fitted to a support plate of a printer, a ribbon-feeding roller 6 is connected to a driving shaft on the printer. Normally, the zone 9 is opposed to a printing head to conduct printing, and after a round of the ribbon 4, the zone 11 is opposed to the head because the ribbon 4 is set in the form of a Mobius loop. The cassette casing 1 may be shifted together with the support plate by a ribbon-shifting mechanism to oppose the zone 10 to the head, thereby performing printing. The ribbon 4 is divided into a plurality of zones 9, 10, 11, the central zone 10 being assigned to a color which is less frequently used, and the zones 9, 11 being assigned to the same color which is more frequently used. |
