PURPOSE:To improve an outward show as well as to aim at reduction in air resistance, by making the rise and fall motion of a straightening plate, preventing a windshield wiper in service from floating, and the on-off operation of a hood covering a wiper blade, when the wiper is unused, performable in an interlocking manner. CONSTITUTION:During windshield wiper operation (see illustration), when a wiper operating switch is closed to stop a windshield wiper 4, a geared cable 12 is retracted with a motor as a driving source after the wiper 4 is stopped whereby the sliding metal device 15 locked to the said cable 12 is also retracted along a guide rail 6. If so, a slide arm 26 and a support arm 27 both are pressed down together with a pressing arm 22 by dint of a pressing piece 15c of the sliding metal device 15 against a spring 29, and a straightening plate 31 is housed inside a window hole 5. This straightening plate 31 rises upright in a tilted state facing the more rearward than the window hole 5 at the time of opening a hood 18 but at the time of closing this hood 18, it falls down at the more downward than the hood 18. Energizing force in a rising direction is given to this straightening plate 31 which is pivotally attached to a car body 1 free of rise and fall motion.
