In the case of a pump unit having an electric motor and having a pump which is coupled thereto, which motor and pump are accommodated in separate chambers in a common housing in which a special chamber is split off for the stator of the motor, which chamber is formed with the aid of a cylindrical wall, the so-called split cage, which is arranged in the gap between the stator and rotor, it is provided that this cylindrical wall, which is known as a split cage, be constructed as a carrier, which is aligned on its own on the inner circumference of the stator, for the rotor, especially the rotor shaft, which is used to support it such that it can rotate, with the associated shaft bearings.
