Heater for a sterilisation vessel

In order to avoid local overheating in a sterilisation vessel heater located on the outside wall of the horizontal sterilisation vessel and transmitting its heating power through the vessel wall into the vessel interior it is proposed that the heater comprise a transmission block made of a highly heat-conducting material in which heating elements are arranged, and that the transmission block be provided with a contact area lying flat against the vessel wall, which contact area is located at the deepest point of the vessel and extends over a small area of the circumference in the circumferential direction of the vessel but at least over the major part of the overall vessel length in the longitudinal direction.
