PURPOSE:To reduce pieces of apparatus necessary for starting and make starting smooth of setting an auxiliary combustor for starting of a catalyst combustion chamber and monitoring the auxiliary combustor and a reformer combustion chamber and sequentially switching lines of fuel and air. CONSTITUTION:A control valve 10 for supplying air to an auxiliary combustor 3 is opened. When the temperature of combustion catalyst layer 16 exceeds the ignition temperature of hydrogen, a valve 11 for supplying hydrogen to the auxiliary combustor 2 is opened. After increase in temperature of the combustion layer 11 caused by burning of hydrogen is detected, a heater switch is turned OFF and burning of hydrogen is continued. High temperature combustion gas supplied from the auxiliary combustor 2 increases the temperature of combustion catalyst layer of a reformer 1. When the temperature of a catalyst layer 18 exceeding the ignition temperature of hydrogen is detected, air and hydrogen is supplied to a reformer combustion chamber. The temperature up caused by the ignition of hydrogen is detected, the amount of hydrogen and air supplied to the reformer combustion chamber is increased to increase temperature. When temperature is increased to the ignition temperature of fuel, fuel is supplied. Temperature is increased by fuel, and the reformer 1 is independently operated. |
