A hinge comprises a pair of members (10, 12) hinged along adjoining edges by means of a resilient clip (14) formed with a pair of arms each having at its extremity an inturned flange (18) terminating in an axle formation (20). The hinged edge of each member (10, 12) has an axially slotted sleeve formation (26) engaged through its slot by the turned flange (18) and axle (20) of one arm of the clip (14) to rotatably locate the member (10, 12) and is provided on its outer surface with spur gear teeth (28) that mesh with corresponding teeth on the sleeve of the member on the other arm of the clip. A stabilised angular position of said members is defined and as said members are rotated towards said stabilised position a gear tooth of one of said members having a root depth (30) reduced to interfere with the meshing tooth of the other of said members crosses from one side to the other of the line (32) between the centres of the axle formations. The arms are urged apart as the reduced depth tooth (30') passes said line (32) and the resilience of the clip (14) holds said members (10, 12) in said stabilised position. |
