PURPOSE:To attain efficient data transmission/reception in a short time by allowing a selection means to select a data processing system or a synchronizing means in transmission/reception between two independent synchronization lines and to select the data processing system or the conversion means to control transmission/reception between the independent synchronization line and the start-stop line. CONSTITUTION:The synchronizing means 21 is provided in parallel with the data processing system 10 between the private line L1 and the public line L2 and the synchronization conversion means 22 is provided in parallel with the synchronization means 21 and the data processing system 10. The 1st selection means 23 is activated when the private line L1 is connected to the transmission side to select one of the data processing system 10, the synchronization means 21 and the synchronization conversion means 22 and to connect the selected means to the private line L1. On the other hand, when the public line L2 is connected to the sending side, the 2nd selection means 24 connects one of the data processing system 10, the synchronizing means 21 and the synchronization conversion means 22 to the public line L2.
