PURPOSE:To make it possible to automatically form connection data showing the connection state of each part of a substrate, by moving a contactor according to a rule and storing the discrimination data and position data of an electrical connection state. CONSTITUTION:After the through-hole P0 on a substrate 1 is located at the approximate position on a four-split sensor 7, the output of the four-split sensor 7 is taken in through an input circuit 13 and servo motors 3a, 3b are controlled so that the center of the through-hole P0 coincides with the detection center of the four-split sensor 7. After a support means 2 is moved by +L, a plunger 4a is energized to allow a first contactor 4 to enter the through-hole P0. Thereafter, the real position data of through-holes P1, P2...Pn are successively determined by the four-split sensor 7 and a second contactor 5 is successively contacted with real through-hole positions and data of the presence and absence of electrical continuity is stored in a memory means 30.
