Like a circular saw disc, the rotating parting tool for working plate-shaped natural- or synthetic-stone material has a plurality of cutting elements at its cutter head (1) in the form of (adjustable) radial extension arms (3) which are provided with a widened portion (4) at their periphery. In each case a cutting surface (6) of deformed ellipse shape is formed on the widened portion (4) by a cutting edge (5), falling away at an angle towards the front in the direction of rotation, in combination with its inclination to the axis of rotation (= hub 2) in the peripheral area of the tool, which permits any line of cut or feed movement of tool or material and, for example in the size cutting of slate slabs which can be split, leads to the formation of fractured edges satisfactorily bevelled accurately to size. <IMAGE>
