The invention relates to a power supply unit having a transformer whose magnetic core is composed of transformer laminates and is held together by means of screws, and having a printed circuit board which carries the electrical components and is attached to the transformer. The printed circuit board is fitted to the transformer in a protected manner such that it is not susceptible to defects, according to the invention, in that the printed circuit board is provided with latching attachments of two mutually opposite sides, which latching attachments are latched into latching receptacles on the side walls of a holder in the form of a bracket, and in that the side walls of the holder are connected to the transformer core in the region of their free ends by means of spacer sleeves and screws which connect the transformer laminates of the magnetic core.
