The present invention relates to an improvement of the automation apparatus according to the main patent, which consists of mounting racks which can be snapped onto a supporting rail and can be connected to one another via control lines. The mounting racks are in this case constructed as modular mounting racks which have a suitable matching circuit. They can be connected electrically to adjacent mounting racks via a plug connection, especially via a flat-ribbon cable. A connecting block (5) for the external wiring is mechanically connected to the mounting rack. According to the invention, the connecting block (5) has holding frames (47) for the socket connections (48), which are provided with connecting wires (49), and the holding frame or frames (47) is or are supported in the connecting block (5) such that it or they can pivot for insertion of the socket connections (48) which can latch in the holding frame (47). <IMAGE>
