PURPOSE:To prevent locking of a drive wheel, by providing a drive wheel rotation speed detecting means, a means, calculating a slip rate based on a detecting rotation speed, and a means, disengaging a clutch when the slip rate exceeds a first given value, and engaging a clutch when decreased over a second given value. CONSTITUTION:Since it is decided whether lock may occur by directly monitoring the rotation state of a drive wheel 11 by which to cause lock, compared with a conventional type which decides from a car speed and the like, further precise decision is practicable. When it is decided that lock is going to occur, a clutch is immediately disengaged, since the drive wheel is released from not only the brake force of an auxiliary brake but also a brake force exerted due to the inertia mass of an engine, a time in which the drive wheel is returned from a state approximately similar to lock to its original state is shortened. This constitution prevents the occurrence of lock, and development of lock to jack-knifing phenomenon, brake hopping phenomenon, or irregular turn phenomenon.
