In a method of press-forming a cylindrical article such as a tape guide cylinder used in a tape cassette, or a battery casing, a strip of stainless steel and a strip of a material (e.g. aluminium or a copper alloy, brass or bronze) easy to process by plastic working are independently subjected to rolling and annealing so as to optimize said strips for press working. The strips are then placed one on the other and thereafter blanked to form laminated sheets and the thus stacked sheets are subjected to plastic working so as to be simultaneously cold-drawn, whereby the cylindrical article is obtained with an outer part (2) constituted by the stainless steel and an inner part (3) constituted by the material easy to process by plastic working, with the latter plastically deformed to fill irregularities in the outer part (2). The article may have a cross-section other than circular, e.g. elliptical, rectangular, triangular. <IMAGE>
