The invention relates to a lighting system intended for racing bikes. This system is characterised in that it comprises an optical prism 3 mounted on the handlebar stem 2 of the bike so that the light rays coming from in front of it undergo, on the rear face 15 of the said prism 3, total reflection which reflects them upwards, so that the user can carry on with his head down, and therefore more rapidly, without losing his visual contact with the road.
