The invention relates to a device for preparing matter such as stools with a view to analysis. This device comprises a collection container 5 and a receptacle container 10, which can nest, either completely, or partially. The collection container 5 is provided with a converging base 5c provided with filtering slots 12, and the receptacle container 10 with a converging base 10c provided at the bottom with drainage means 10d, 10e, 16. In the position of complete nesting, the filtering slots 12 are masked by the base of the receptacle container, whilst the drainage means of the latter are closed by the bottom of the collection container 5. The device makes it possible to prepare matter with a view to analysis, under remarkably convenient conditions, both by employing physical methods and biphase methods. <IMAGE>
