The SLR camera has a pentaprism (20) positioned in the camera body above the main photographic axis, in order to allow viewing by the photographer along the photographic axis. A movable light transmitter (28,30,32) is integrated in the camera body, lies at least partially above the pentaprism, and is movable from an operating position projecting from the camera body, to an out of operation position accommodated in the camera body. The in-built flash unit (29,30,32) can be automatically closed, if an external flash unit is inserted in a flash reception socket. An indicating panel is fitted on the top side of the flash unit housing.
