The invention relates to a toothbrush with a brush head (11), brush handle (12) and brush gripping part (13) such that both the brush gripping part and the brush handle and brush head comprise adjacently arranged elements (21) and (22) which transmit the relevant brushing pressure from the brush handle to the teeth to be cleaned. Between the elements (22) and (21) there is a highly suitable material of extreme flexibility (23) which permits torsion of the elements (21) and (22) relative to one another due to the consistency and design of the material. This torsion permits an incorrect angular position of the brush head relative to the teeth to be compensated flexibly and makes it possible to avoid or suppress sawing of the necks of the teeth in horizontal brushing techniques. <IMAGE>
