PURPOSE:To enable sintering at a low temp. and to enhance dielectric strength against blackening by calcining Y2O3-contg. partially stabilized ZrO2 powder formed by coprecipitation. CONSTITUTION:A powdery Y2O3-partially stabilized ZrO2 mixture formed by coprecipitation and having <=1mum average particle diameter, 2.5-7m<2>/g specific surface area and <=0.2wt.% SiO2 content is mixed with an org. binder such as polyvinyl butyral and molded. This molded body is freed of the binder and calcined at <=1,500 deg.C to obtain a solid electrolyte having 4.5/95.5-6/94 molar ratio of Y2O3/ZrO2 and consisting of tetragonal and cubic crystals. |
