The device is capable of focusing the surface waves from a set of transducers. The transducers 13 are distributed along a fixed contour C1 and at least one transducer-receiver B1 is placed in such a way that the delays produced by the transmission of the surface waves over the surface of the substrate 12 equalise the delays between the signals applied to the input transducers. Application to the production of devices for focusing surface acoustic waves similar to optical lenses. <IMAGE>
