PURPOSE:To provide a synthetic leather of light wt. having excellent feeling which is suited for use as clothing, by mixing a powdery animal hair with a resin. CONSTITUTION:A powder (particle size: about 3-4mum) obtd. by washing an animal hair, such as a beast hair and a feather, with water and defatting, digesting, disintegrating and pulverizing the hair in an org. solvent by means of a wet ball mill, to which optionally a natural leather powder (mostly up to 40mum) has been added, is mixed with a thermoplastic resin, such as polyvinyl chloride, and a thermosetting resin, such as a polyurethane. Thus, a synthetic leather compsn. is obtd. Generally, the mixing proportion of such resins is in the range of 30-50wt.%. The compsn. is shaped into a sheet form, and applied to a ground cloth to thereby obtain a shaped article of a synthetic leather. |
