The electric heating unit includes an outer casing adapted to be fixedly secured in the vehicle and having a recessed portion for removably receiving an electrical heating appliance, such as a water heating pot, provided with an electric element and a temperature sensor capable of producing switching signals indicative of the temperature of the appliance. A power control switch and a switch actuator responsive to the temperature sensor are located in the outer casing at a location remote and shielded from the heating element when the appliance is seated in the recessed portion.
