Phosphoneamidothionate derivs. of formula CH3-P(=S)(-OR3)-N (-R1)- COOR2 are prepd. by (i) reacting carbamate ester derivs. of formula HN (-R1) (-COOR2) with methylphosphonothionic dichloride in dioxane in the presence of amine, and (ii) reacting with cpds. of formula HO- R3 in THF in the presence of amine. In the formulas, R1 and R2 are each C1-4 straight alkyl or C3-4 sidechain alkyl; R3= (un) substd. Ph (by Cl, Me), C1-4 alkyl or 5-methyl-2-isoxazolyl. The said derivs. are useful as an insecticide, esp. effective against diptera, homoptera or lepidoptera.
