A hot mixing/conveying drum, for asphalt recycling, building materials etc. consists of a double-walled, heated, tubular, rotary mixing drum with material inlet and outlet openings at opposite ends. The novelty is that a tubular shaft (R) extends coaxially to the drum axis (33) and is connected to the inner wall (17) of the drum by hollow mixer arms (16), the interiors of which connect the shaft interior with the interior of the double wall (17,18), all these hollow interiors being supplied with a gaseous heating medium by a hot gas generator. ADVANTAGE- The design provides extremely uniform, peripherally biased, indirect heating of the material while reducing or eliminating frictional and grinding forces.
