Realistic impressions of the firing flash, sound and smoke produced by the firing of projectiles and/or their impact on targets, and used in training exercises, are produced by pyrotechnical units (1), each with a detonator (3) and mounted in recess (5) in a support plate (4). Spring-loaded striker pin (6) actuating the detonator from below is one of a series mounted in a lower plate (7), which moves parallel to the support plate. Strikera pin knob (13) projecting below a base safety plate (11) is struck by one arm of a spring-loaded cranked lever (27) when the movement of cogs (18,21) advanced by a fixed rack (20) causes a retaining lever (24) to slip off the carved head of a ram (25). All elements are held in a casing whose lid also supports a lamp, esp. a halogen lamp used in right exercises.
