<p>In the treatment of a subterranean formation with an aqueous fluid, certain quaternary ammonium additives are included in the fluid to stabilize the formation and control formation damage caused by contacting the formation with the aqueous fluid. The quaternary ammonium additives are compounds of the general formulae: AR1 Z, AR2A Z, R1B min R1 Z, R1B min R2B min R1 Z, C min R3 Z, D min (R1)3 Z E Y min , and F min (R1)4 Z wherein <CHEM> <CHEM> <CHEM> <CHEM> <CHEM> <CHEM> R1 is -CH2COOH, -CH2CH2OH, -CH2CH2CH2OH or -CH2CHOHCH3; R2 is -CH2CH2-, -CH2CHOHCH2-, -CH2CH2CH2-, -CH2CH2CH2CH2-, or -CH2CH2OCH2CH2- ; <CHEM> where each R4 is hydrogen or the group (CH2)nCH3 wherein n is 0 or from 1 to 5, at least one of said R4 substituents being a -(CH2)nCH3 group; Z is an anion selected from halides, nitrates, nitrites, sulfites, sulfates and carboxylates; and Y min is a carboxylate anion.o</p> |
