The material is delivered to a nipple at the end of its shaft (2) through a duct (6) from a head (3) within which an electromagnetic valve (32) is opened and closed by a coil (33). Rotation of the valve (32) connects a feed pipe (35) to the duct (6) when a thin strain-gauge rod (38) protruding into the brush (25) is deflected or bent by the brushing movement. USE/ADVANTAGE - For brushing with e.g. inks, varnishes, gels or finely divided powders, supply is cut off automatically while applicator is at rest.
