Article of Footwear Having a Midsole and Methods of Making the Same

An article of footwear including a midsole for providing cushioning for a wearer's foot and providing structure for coupling the midsole to an upper. The midsole may include a body and a flange integrally formed with the body and extending outwardly from an outer perimeter of the body. The flange may be configured to couple with the upper. The midsole may be a single integrally formed piece. The midsole may eliminate the need to include a strobel board as part of the article of footwear. Methods for manufacturing an article of footwear including a midsole are also provided.

1. An article of footwear, comprising:
an upper, a midsole comprising a body and a flange integrally formed with the body, the flange extending outwardly from an outer perimeter of the body and coupled to the upper, and an outsole comprising a sidewall coupled to the upper and a base having a ground contacting surface and an open cavity disposed opposite the ground contacting surface, the open cavity having an upper surface defining a recess configured to receive a portion of the body of the midsole.
