摘要 This optical communication system is provided with: a signal processing device provided with a split base station function; and a wireless device. Digital radio over fiber (RoF) transmission is used to transmit, between the signal processing device and the wireless device, a periodic symbol sequence obtained by adding a cyclic prefix to a signal which has been subjected to an inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) of a prescribed size. The signal processing device and the wireless device are each provided with a transmission unit and a reception unit. The transmission unit is provided with: a compression size determination unit which acquires symbol information related to the starting position of the symbol sequence and the length of each symbol forming the symbol sequence, and, on the basis of the acquired symbol information, determines the compression size for each symbol to be subjected to compression processing; and a compression unit which compresses the symbol sequence in units of the determined compression size. The reception unit is provided with: an expansion size determination unit which determines the expansion size for each symbol of the symbol sequence to be subjected to expansion processing; and an expansion unit which expands the symbol sequence in units of the determined expansion size.
