The pressure roller for a web winder has depressions (14) in the peripheral jacket surface. They are pref. formed by spiral grooves at less than 75 deg. pref between 5 and 30 deg. to the roller axis (16). They can extend for the entire roller width, and there can be an elastic sleeve (12), typically of rubber, covering the surface.
